Pat & Tina Dancer's Wedding at The Whitehall Hotel

On 27 August 2011 The Whitehall Hotel hosted the wedding of Pat and Tina Dancer. The ceremony took place on the hotel terrace and afterwards the couple with their forty guests enjoyed a drinks reception followed by the wedding breakfast. Everyone was collected by an old London bus and taken to an evening party.

Tobias Ellwood MP with the speakers at the Conurbation 2050 conference

Sara and Bernard Uzzell were among a group of Bournemouth enthusiasts who presented their ideas for Bournemouth in 2050 to MP Tobias Ellwood. Sara’s dream is a glass bubble containing a sub-tropical water park and Bernard’s is the provision of electric pods to transport passengers around Bournemouth. Other ideas included a venue for arts and culture, a sea-plane linking Bournemouth and Poole and an iconic seafront attraction.

15. Explore the ruins of Corfe Castle – one of Britain’s most majestic ruins, the castle controlled the gateway through the Purbeck Hills and had been an important stronghold since the time of William the Conqueror
16. The area of Westbourne celebrates in the fact that the author Robert Louis Stevenson set up home on the chinetop in Westcliff Road in 1885. Here, he wrote ‘Kidnapped’ and ‘The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde’. The house was called ‘Skerryvore’ and was destroyed in an air raid during the war, but the foundations have been preserved and the garden remains as a memorial to the author
17. Explore Brownsea Island, known worldwide as the birthplace of Scouting and Guiding. Thriving natural habitats, including woodlands, heathland and lagoon; create a haven for wildlife such as the rare red squirrel and a large variety of birds and insects, making Brownsea Island a fantastic venue explore nature.
