Cherrill’s cheery champions arrived at The Whitehall Hotel from Cray Cottage Bowls Club in Erith Kent on Sunday.  They were narrowly defeated in Weymouth at Moonfleet Indoor Bowls Club on Monday and then again by just a whisker (just 3 shots overall) at the mighty Bournemouth Indoor Bowls Club. On Friday they are heading to the Dolphin IBC - watch out Poole these bowlers mean business! Their leader, Cherrill, says that she is disappointed by the near misses so far but she is confident that Cray Cottage will fight back. Watch this space for an update!

The Gloucestershire Vice Presidents Bowling Association are celebrating their 5th year staying at the Whitehall Hotel for their indoor bowls tour.  With matches arranged by Bowlaway, the Gloucestershire bowlers have played against local competition at Bournemouth Indoor Bowls Club and Dorchester Indoor Bowls Club.  The result against Dorchester was a draw (172 v 172) and the match against Bournemouth was rather one-sided with BIBC coming out on top (we won’t mention by how many!)  The Glos VPs will be back again next year to get their revenge!

Sara Uzzell & Ray Ollis - President of the Bournemouth and District BA

Welcome to our new website. We hope you’ll find this site a valuable resource. We’ll be adding more content and new functionality over the coming weeks and months.

Bowlaway specialises in organising bowls tours to Bournemouth all year round. Sara and Bernard Uzzell, directors of Bowlaway, also own The Whitehall Hotel which has been hosting bowls tours for more than twenty years, so they feel confident that they know what’s required to organise a successful tour.

Describing the bowlaway service, Sara said ‘We offer an ‘all-inclusive’ service for bowlers with hotel accommodation, all the bowls matches arranged as well as other services such as coach transport, excursions, prizes and even group photographs – it’s all designed to make tours ‘hassle free’ for their organisers.

Bowlaway works closely with the local bowls clubs in the Bournemouth area to arrange the friendly match fixtures. There are more than 30 ourdoor clubs in the Bournemouth & District Bowling Association so an interesting and varied itinerary can always be offered.

Indoor tours usually include fixtures at the Bournemouth Indoor Bowls Centre (with 9 rinks), Dolphin Indoor Bowls Club in Poole (with 11 rinks) as well as East Dorset Indoor Bowls Club in Christchurch. A full package is also arranged for tours during the winter with transport and evening entertainment often included – there’s even turkey and tinsel bowls in November and December!

We look forward to continuing providing support to promote the sport of bowls and attracting new players to this exciting and competitive sport.

For further information, please call Sara Uzzell on 01202 208488.
